Nineteen Eighty-Four
120×190 mm; printed cover mockup using a repurposed text block, authored by George Orwell. Redesigned as a self-initiated project.
envisions a world ruled by totalitarian power where surveillance, censorship, and psychological manipulation define reality. Set in a society stripped of personal freedom, the novel explores themes of truth, resistance, and the erasure of memory. At its core is a haunting question: what happens when language and history are no longer our own?

Intention and Process
Reinterpreted Orwell’s story through a present-day lens. Instead of showing Big Brother directly, the design focuses on scale, repetition, and digital sameness to evoke today’s surveillance culture—quiet, omnipresent, and dehumanizing.
Inspiration
Started from the idea of constant surveillance—images of CCTV control rooms sparked the initial concept.
Sketch
Explored a wall of screens as a metaphor. A curved layout emphasized scale and immersion.
Structure
Built the grid digitally and shaped the numbers “1984” using black screens, referencing a digital clock.
Execution
Filled each screen with video call images. The sheer volume creates a modern and chilling sense of being watched.
